do Software GraphPad Prisma 9.0. Foi considerado como significância p<0,05. A
Obesity is characterized as a major public health problem, becoming a chronic disease associated with various comorbidities. Surgical interventions have been successfully employed in the treatment of late morbid obesity. Studies have already proven this improvement in the short term, but new researches need to be done to evaluate the long-term effect of surgery. Thus, the aim of this study was to evaluate the perception of quality of life, nutritional aspects, self-image, and self-esteem in women after 5 years of bariatric surgery. A descriptive study was carried out with 35 women over 18 years old who had undergone Roux-en-Y bypass bariatric surgery after 3 years. This project was approved by the Ethics Committee of São Judas Tadeu University (CAAE 46628521.5.0000.0089). The participants were selected by convenience and a form (http://gg.gg/pesquisacirurgiabariatrica) with the following instruments was used: an identification questionnaire with sociodemographic, surgery, and health questions, the Self-Esteem Scale, the Periodic Eating Compulsion Scale, the Silhouette Scale (Rosenberg), and the Quality of Life Scale (WHOQOL-bref). The data were compiled in Excel Software and submitted to statistical treatment with the aid of GraphPad Prisma 9.0 Software. Significance was considered p<0.05. The data analysis showed that the participants are overweight and have body dissatisfaction, with the desire to lose weight, but have satisfactory self-esteem. The results presented indicate that most of these women are overweight, even after 5 years of bariatric surgery, reported that there is body dissatisfaction, showed a desire to lose weight, but consider themselves currently in good health, have high self-esteem and no binge eating. In addition, they presented a satisfactory perception of quality of life when the physical, psychological, social relationships, and environmental aspects were evaluated, showing a positive long-term result from bariatric surgery.
