enfermagem frente a implementação do método canguru.
The Kangaroo Method is a care model that primarily promotes skin-to-skin contact, facilitating the baby's thermal regulation. It also promotes breastfeeding, reduces neonatal pain, lowers the risk of neonatal infection, and decreases hospitalization period and neonatal mortality. Objective: This study aims to describe, based on available literature, the importance of the nurse’s role in the implementation of the kangaroo method with support from the nursing team assistance. Methodology: A scientific literature review was conducted using an integrative bibliographic review to gather information from digital scientific platforms such as BVS, PubMed, and SciELO. Ten articles were selected for analysis and discussion. Results: The selected studies were critically analyzed, and similarities in the findings were observed, which were synthesized and presented in a tabular form. Discussion: It was found after analyzing the 10 selected articles that the actions of the nursing professional in the Kangaroo method are of utmost importance for family guidance, encouragement of breastfeeding, and assistance for mother and baby. The studies also show the difficulties in adhering to the Kangaroo method by the nursing team. Conclusion: It can be concluded that nurses play a fundamental role in the success of the Kangaroo Method in healthcare units. Nursing actively contributes to management, care, education, interventions, stimulation, and guidance of the family.
