This article aims to present, in the form of an Integrative Literature Review, the importance of psychology in promoting flight safety in civil aviation. The study is based on an investigation into the most stressful factors in the lives of aeronauts that may negatively interfere with the performance and decision-making of these professionals, addressing a brief history of the origin of psychology in aviation, bringing historical facts that prove the need for professional psychologists to act, and for psychology itself, in aviation. The results could demonstrate that psychologists are part of the group of professionals who are responsible for ensuring, on a daily basis, the safety of thousands of passengers and aeronauts around the world, working in various areas within an airline and assisting in cases of emergencies in air incidents and accidents.
