Nursing care plays a central role in promoting health and caring for women facing the decision of safe and legal abortion. It is essential to understand that the approach and quality of this assistance vary considerably between countries, being influenced by political, cultural, social, and legal factors. This study aims to perform a comparative analysis between Brazil and Denmark, nations that have different approaches to legalized abortion. The general objective of the study was to analyze in a comparative way nursing care in the context of safe and legal abortion, in the countries to understand how this assistance influences the physical and mental health of women who go through this process. This is an integrative literature review with search for studies published in the period from 2018 to 2023, in English and Portuguese, indexed in the PubMed and SiELO databases, in addition to the Penal Code of the countries related to the subject. Eighteen articles were located and after using the pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria, nine articles were selected to compose the review. The evaluation of nursing care practices during safe abortion highlights the consequences of legal differences in both scenarios. The more limited approach in Brazil, governed by specific legal criteria, differs from the Danish approach, which favors a more comprehensive and patient-centered action. The need for continuing education stands out as a crucial aspect, being more complex in Brazil due to legal restrictions.
