This work highlights the role of psychology in promoting non-violence, especially for women who experience violence from their intimate partners. Facing psychological, cultural, and often ineffective public policy challenges, the pursuit of equal rights and the restructuring of women's image in contemporary society persist as ongoing challenges. The challenge of psychoeducation is evident in cases of violence against women by intimate partners, revealing behavioral patterns rooted in sexist and patriarchal constructions. Emphasizing the tool of psychoeducation to transcend gender-based perceptions, victimization by sexism causes severe psychological and physical consequences. This sexist violence is intrinsically linked to the lack of visibility, freedom, and gender-based internalization. Public policies such as the Maria da Penha Law are essential alongside psychoeducational efforts because domestic violence is a cycle, and the fight against feminicide is everyone's duty. In the review, it seeks to highlight risk factors, psychological consequences, and the forms of violence, and how psychology can contribute to prevention through education. The pandemic intensified the issue, underscoring the need for actions and public policies, psychosocial services, and psychoeducation. Thus, overcoming cultural patterns, with psychology as an effective tool for awareness, education, and support in situations of violence, contributes to cultural and social transformations.
