INTRODUCTION: Decreina is a commercial drug that acts by inhibiting the growth of the main fungi that cause onychomycosis. The aim of the study was to demonstrate the action of this drug against Trichophyton analyzed in parallel. The assay was performed in triplicate. rubrum and Candida albicans, which are among the main fungi causing onychomycosis. METHODS: The action of decreina was evaluated using the CLSI standardized antifungal susceptibility test for filamentous and yeast-like fungi. Ciclopirox and fluconazole were also analyzed in parallel. The assay was performed in triplicate. RESULTS: The action of decreina was evaluated against 3 clinical isolates of Trychophyton rubrum and Candida albicans, using the broth microdilution method. The antifungal activity of decreina against Trychophyton rubrum isolates was observed in wells 5 and 6. Theactivity against Candida albicans isolates was observed in wells 8, 6 and 5. As decreine does not describe its concentration of the product, it was not possible to obtain the real value of CIM. CONCLUSION: The present study was able to evaluate the action of decreina against the fungi Trychophyton rubrum and Candida albicans, presenting satisfactory results in the evaluation of the inhibitory concentration, when compared to the other antifungal compounds or drougs.
