Resumo
Introdução: A osteoartrose é uma doença crônica, degenerativa, inflamatória,
terapêuticos no tratamento.
Introduction: Osteoarthritis is a chronic, degenerative, inflammatory, multifactorial disease that affects the joint complex, which alters the articular cartilage in a diffuse way and, finally, leads to its degeneration, causing pain and functional loss. The knee is the joint most affected by this disease, as it supports a lot of weightObjective: to analyze whether therapeutic exercises are effective in reducing pain in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Methods: An integrative literature review was carried out in electronic databases of research published in the last 5 years that included adult patients who were diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis and who used therapeutic exercises in the treatment. The PeDRO scale was used to assess the risk of bias. Results: Six articles were selected because they met all pre-established criteria. Of the six studies reviewed, four made comparisons between therapeutic exercises versus some other physiotherapy technique or the use of NSAIDs, one only proved the effectiveness of exercises and another compared two types of exercises. Conclusion: Based on the reviewed studies, it is concluded that therapeutic exercises, mainly isometric and isotonic hip and knee exercises and balance training are beneficial in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis, as they are effective in reducing pain, improving functionality, increase in muscle strength, among others. However, other interventions such as laser therapy bring better results in some variables.
