This article addresses the application of infrared thermography as a predictive inspection tool in electrical systems. The study aims to analyze the effectiveness of this technique in identifying anomalous thermal patterns, aiming to prevent failures in electrical components. The methodology used involved a comprehensive review of the literature, focusing on reliable electrical engineering data sources, such as Google Scholar, CAPES Journals, SCOPUS, and others. Studies published in the last 10 years were selected, considering specific inclusion criteria, and Analysis of the results reveals valuable insights into the applicability of thermography. It is concluded that infrared thermography, when applied judiciously, offers an effective approach for the early detection of thermal anomalies in electrical systems, providing a solid basis for proactive maintenance strategies.
