Resumo
O presente artigo propõe discutir os impactos geopolíticos da intervenção
dos Estados Unidos (EUA) no Afeganistão durante o intervalo de 2001 a 2009.
Nesse período, será analisado o governo de George Walker Bush (2001-2009). Com
o objetivo de entender as consequências geopolíticas causadas pela intervenção
militar estadunidense ocorrida no país, serão analisados o cenário político,
econômico e social do Afeganistão antes e após as ações militares estadunidenses.
O artigo buscará identificar como as ações militares e políticas dos estadunidenses
reverberaram na região, considerando os planos e interesses direcionados ao
Estado afegão, durante o mandato de George W. Bush. Serão revisadas as ações
e interesses estratégicos dos Estados Unidos que ressaltam a importância
geopolítica do Afeganistão, por meio das National Security Strategies (Estratégias
de Segurança Nacional), publicadas pela presidências analisadas. Por fim, serão
construídas considerações sobre o atual cenário do país, após a retomada do grupo
extremista Talibã ao poder e suas consequências para os Estados Unidos.
This paper proposes to discuss the geopolitical impacts of the United States (US) intervention in Afghanistan during the interval from 2001 to 2009. In this period, the government of George Walker Bush (2001-2009) will be analyzed. In order to understand the geopolitical consequences caused by the U.S. military intervention in the country, the political, economic and social scenario of Afghanistan before and after the U.S. military actions will be analyzed. The article will seek to identify how the US military and political actions reverberated in the region, considering the plans and interests directed towards the Afghan state during George W. Bush's mandate. We will review U.S. strategic interests and actions that highlight the geopolitical importance of Afghanistan through the National Security Strategies published by the analyzed presidencies. Finally, considerations on the country's current scenario will be constructed, after the Taliban extremist group's return to power and its consequences for the United States.
