Habit is a behavior that occurs automatically, but when practiced repetitively, it becomes deleterious. Non-nutritive sucking can interfere with bone growth, cause dental misalignment, and respiratory issues. Digital sucking begins even in intrauterine life, considered part of a child's development. Meanwhile, the pacifier becomes an alternative for parents as it not only satisfies the sucking need but also soothes crying and is easily accessible. This paper discusses deleterious habits and non-nutritive sucking in childhood, focusing on digital sucking and pacifier use. The relationship between deleterious habits and malocclusion results from changes in the physiological growth pattern. Furthermore, these seemingly harmful habits alter the pattern of muscular force, which, in growing children, can impact the normal growth of the dental arch and facial structures
