Purpose: The purpose of this study is to indicate the best existing practices regarding the preservation of female fertility for cancer patients, using cryopreservation of oocytes as a safeguard. Methods: For this, the guiding question was defined as: "How can cryopreservation help cancer patients to protect their fertility?". Conclusion: It is feasible and recommended to offer, as soon as possible, options for preserving fertility to cancer patients. Cryopreservation is the predominant option as a technique, but it was observed that there is already a concern about the formulation of standardized processes aimed at oncofertility, to be applied in cancer treatment centers and medical clinics. Among the two main ways used for cryopreservation of oocytes, the vitrification process is the one that demonstrates the highest success rates.
