The standard reference rinse in Dentistry, Chlorhexidine Gluconate, has broad-spectrum properties, but when used for more than 14 days it causes undesirable effects that compromise the stipulated therapy. Therefore, essential oils are alternative substances in preventing the colonization of bacteria, with emphasis on Tea Tree Oil, due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory action, it becomes an auxiliary in hygiene. The present study aimed to perception regarding the use of mouthwash based on Tea Tree Oil. This is a longitudinal intervention study carried out with 20 participants aged 29 to 71 years, using a questionnaire with 7 questions, in 6 times T0 (baseline), T1, T2, T3, T4 and T5, in which they used the rinse in T1, T2 and T3. The 20 participants completed the study. Although the results were not statistically significant, a reduction in the burning sensation effect between T4 and T5 can be verified. It was also possible to observe the favorable perception on the part of the participants in relation to the use of the mouthwash based on Tea Tree Oil.
