dc.description.abstract	This article discusses the perspectives on motherhood, considering its historical context, the role as women in society, the socially constructed identity on the maternal role and the subjectivity that permeates the experiences related to the theme. The research aimed to identify expectations related to motherhood and factors around it, such as pertinent feelings and the perception of the role as mother. To fulfill this objective, 10 pregnant women who were expecting their first child were interviewed, gestating from the sixth to the ninth month. Therefore, it is a qualitative research, as it seeks the meanings attributed to motherhood by the participants. According to the results, it was possible to identify that both the perception of the role as mother and the expectations of playing the role will be linked to several factors, such as the subjective experience of each woman in the role as daughter, the social context to which this woman belongs, the influence of information obtained through common sense, scientific knowledge and literature. Among the perceptions obtained, being a mother was associated with responsibility, donation and protection / zeal, while the feelings associated with the exercise of this role were pointed out: love and anxiety. Motherhood was considered a relationship of protection, security, just like a safe haven. It was possible to identify the pregnant women 's concern about who the child will be in society, and the fact that who they become is related to success or failure in the role of mother.	en
dc.description.abstract	Este artigo discute as perspectivas acerca da maternidade, considerando seu contexto histórico, o papel da mulher na sociedade, a identidade socialmente construída sobre o papel materno e a subjetividade que permeia as experiências relacionadas ao tema. A pesquisa teve como objetivo identificar as expectativas relacionadas à maternidade e fatores ao seu entorno, como sentimentos pertinentes e a percepção sobre o papel de mãe. Para cumprir tal objetivo, foram entrevistadas 10 gestantes que estavam à espera do primeiro filho, gestando do sexto ao nono mês. Portanto, trata-se de uma pesquisa com caráter qualitativo, pois busca os significados atribuídos à maternidade pelas participantes. De acordo com os resultados, foi possível identificar que tanto a percepção acerca do papel de mãe quanto as expectativas de exercer o papel, estarão ligadas a diversos fatores, como por exemplo a experiência subjetiva de cada mulher no papel de filha, o contexto social ao qual esta mulher pertence, a influência das informações obtidas através do senso comum, os conhecimentos científicos e da literatura. Dentre as percepções obtidas, ser mãe foi associado à responsabilidade, doação e proteção/zelo, enquanto os sentimentos associados ao exercício deste papel foram apontados: o amor e a ansiedade. A maternidade foi considerada como uma relação de proteção, segurança, tal qual um porto-seguro. Foi possível identificar preocupação das gestantes com relação a quem o filho será na sociedade, e o fato de que, quem ele venha a ser está relacionado ao sucesso ou fracasso do papel de mãe.	pt_BR
