Fibromyalgia (FM) is a rheumatologic syndrome characterized by diffuse and chronic musculoskeletal pain. It is a disease with high prevalence in the world, and in Brazil, this prevalence varies from 0.66% to 4.4%, and is more common in women aged between 35 and 60 years. The treatment of FM is not yet specific, and aims to minimize the suffering of patients, seeking relief from symptoms and promoting quality of life (QoL). Through various types of treatment, Pilates is a widely used method as it aims to work on muscle strengthening, flexibility and stretching exercises. The present research aimed to evaluate the QoL of women with fibromyalgia through the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) who practice physical exercises and perform the Pilates Method (PM) for at least 6 months. We evaluated 30 female volunteers with a previous diagnosis of fibromyalgia, who had been practicing Pilates for at least 6 months and twice a week. The Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) was used to assess pain intensity, and the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ) to assess the impact of fibromyalgia on the quality of life of these volunteers. In the results, no significant correlation was found between QOL, VAS and the age of the volunteers studied, with a positive correlation between FIQ and VAS being found and when comparing the VAS variable between the two groups, it was observed that the group of volunteers who had a FIQ greater than 50 had a higher score on the VAS. It is believed that this result is due to the practice of Pilates and physical exercises. It is suggested that new studies be carried out with a larger sample number, with control groups or groups that practice different activities to better prove the method.
