Resumo
No tratamento de diferentes patologias malignas, particularmente na região maxilar, a radioterapia é uma das modalidade mais utilizadas. É utilizado para impedir o desenvolvimento e multiplicação das células cancerígenas e tumores, dando a muitos pacientes esperança e uma chance de recuperação. No entanto, apesar das vantagens substanciais que a radioterapia oferece, ela também pode representar dificuldades substanciais para pacientes, particularmente quando as operações cirúrgicas são necessárias após o tratamento de radioterapia. No tratamento do câncer oral, de cabeça e pescoço, bem como em tratamentos reconstrutivos, a combinação de radioterapia e cirurgia na região maxilar é uma estratégia típica. No entanto, a radioterapia pode alterar a estrutura e a funcionalidade da área irradiada, tornando a cirurgia subsequente difícil e sensível. Nessa situação, é importante compreender e tomar as medidas de segurança apropriadas para garantir que as cirurgias realizadas após a radiação maxilar ocorra bem.
In the treatment of different malignant pathologies, particularly in the maxillary region, radiotherapy is one of the most commonly used modalities. It is employed to prevent the development and multiplication of cancer cells and tumors, giving many patients hope and a chance for recovery. However, despite the substantial advantages that radiotherapy offers, it can also pose significant challenges for patients, especially when surgical operations are required after radiotherapy treatment. In the treatment of oral, head, and neck cancer, as well as in reconstructive treatments, the combination of radiotherapy and surgery in the maxillary region is a typical strategy. However, radiotherapy can alter the structure and functionality of the irradiated area, making subsequent surgery difficult and delicate. In this situation, it is important to understand and take appropriate safety measures to ensure that surgeries performed after maxillary radiation occur successfully.
