By definition, cancer is the name given to a group of more than 100 diseases that have in common the disordered (malignant) growth of cells that invade tissues and organs. The role of nurses in oncology goes beyond technical care, considering that new treatments against cancer have brought the requirement for multidisciplinary work, in which the professional must not only provide technical assistance but also offer psychological support to these women. The nurse can provide information about the effects and benefits of using complementary therapies in cancer treatment, since this professional has direct and continuous contact with the patient throughout the treatment and rehabilitation, providing humanized assistance centered on women. OBJECTIVE: To understand the role of the Nurse in relation to patients with Breast Cancer. METHODOLOGY: The following steps of the integrative literature review method were followed: identification of the problem (the purpose of the review was clearly defined), literature search (with keyword delimitation, databases and application of defined criteria for article selection), evaluation and analysis through qualitative research of an exploratory nature by bibliographical research.
