Over the years, the optimization of processes and the increase in the productivity of industrial assets has been growing with overwhelming proportions, and the maintenance of such equipment must accompany such growth in a way that guarantees the availability and operational reliability with the smallest and most assertive number of possible interventions. To ensure such actions, it is necessary for companies to follow technological trends and implement maintenance strategies aimed at reducing and/or eliminating failures that interrupt the operation or reduce the operational performance of the equipment, such a strategy cannot depend only on corrective actions by generate large losses and must meet the connectivity needs existing in most large organizations. This article was elaborated through exploratory bibliographic research on the implementation of the predictive maintenance strategy in industries that work with rotating equipment in the manufacturing environment in order to demonstrate the benefits of implementing this tool to increase the availability of the analyzed equipment. For data analysis and comparison, some concepts and fundamentals of the planned maintenance pillar of TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) were used, as well as complementary materials.
