Library Online), Pubmed, Medline, LILACS (Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe
pessoas idosas.
In the aging process, falling is one of the most feared problems by the elderly, and after a fall event the elderly person can develop Ptophobia, that is, the phobic fear of falling. This disease impairs the quality of life of the elderly, as it can cause loss of selfesteem, impair independence, in addition to causing damage to mental health, triggering problems such as depression, anxiety and social isolation. Dual-task exercise (DT) helps in the treatment of Ptophobia as it has a motor and cognitive focus. Working on physical and mental balance, thus providing benefits for the elderly. Thus, the objective of this study was to investigate the use of dual tasking as a strategy to minimize ptophobia in the elderly. This is a qualitative study, carried out through a bibliographic survey, in the databases SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online), Pubmed, Medline, LILACS (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences) and Scientific Journals, between the years 2013 to 2023 and after selection by the eligibility criteria, 20 articles were used. The groups tested in the studies showed that older people who had physical therapy using DT training had a significant improvement in gait, balance, independence, decreased fear of falling, and pain. As for the relevance of the research, it is expected to arouse interest and enable future research to be implemented in order to deepen studies on the subject. In view of the importance of dual-tasking to improve the quality of life of the elderly.
