As formas
Ocular anatomy has a seriies of eye protection mechanisms that end up becoming barriers when it comes to administering drugs. Common pharmaceutical forms, such as ointments, gels and eye drops, turn out to be disadvantageous when it comes to drug bioavailability, as these are eliminated by eye protection mechanisms. It is in this context that this work aimed to present the new pharmaceutical systems in evidence whose main feature is the development of biocompatible and bioavailable pharmaceutical forms that allow the release of drugs for a longer period and in a sustained way. For that, a bibliographic review was carried out in magazines and electronic search sites for national and international publications, thus presenting a synthesis on hidrogels, films, nanoparticles and Liposomes, which are advantageous dosage forms when it comes to controlled and sustained release of drugs. It was observed that this is an area in evidence, finding a significant volume of international publications
