Facial paralysis is a condition that affects many people globally, significantly impacting the quality of life due to the loss of muscular control. It is often caused by damage to the facial nerve, leading to challenges in expression, speech, and eating, resulting in physical and emotional discomfort. In this scenario, Botulinum Toxin, known for its aesthetic use, emerges as a promising alternative, temporarily blocking nerve transmission to muscles and improving the quality of life for patients with facial paralysis. The significance of this work lies in the numerous benefits of botulinum toxin application, aiming to advocate for its use in the treatment of Peripheral Facial Paralysis. Eleven scientific articles were researched, all of which showed positive results regarding the use of Botulinum Toxin Type A (BTA) as a therapeutic treatment. The consensus among the cited authors emphasizes its efficacy and safety, highlighting it as a less invasive therapeutic option with consistent results for correcting facial asymmetry, relieving pain, and promoting rehabilitation. It is concluded, therefore, that the use of Botulinum Toxin Type A to treat peripheral facial paralysis offers consistent benefits.
