Introduction: In dialysis centers, the role of the physiotherapist becomes crucial, essential and fundamental, since kidney changes cause musculoskeletal and cardiopulmonary effects, increasing the need for the presence of the physiotherapist in the patient's rehabilitation. Hemodialysis treatment causes cardiopulmonary and musculoskeletal changes that affect the patient's function, muscle strength and quality of life. Objective: We aim to highlight the effects of physiotherapeutic rehabilitation protocols in improving the quality of life and functional capacity of hemodialysis patients. Methodology: Integrative literature review, with an exploratory approach carried out in scientific databases: PubMed, Virtual Health Library (BVS), which have recognized databases such as: LILACS and IBECS, and SciELO. Results and Discussion: 12 articles were selected to compose the analysis of the results. From the evaluation of the studies selected to compose the results sample, it can be seen that the physiotherapeutic protocols used in hemodialysis patients proved to be effective in improving functional capacity, quality of life, cardiac function, reducing pain and less occurrence of cramps. Conclusion: Based on the results obtained, physical rehabilitation programs are beneficial in improving the general condition and quality of life of patients with chronic kidney disease. It can be concluded that rehabilitation programs can have positive effects on hemodialysis patients. However, to achieve complete and comprehensive rehabilitation of patients with chronic kidney disease, it is recommended to treat these patients with quality of life as the main requirement.
