Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Pacientes em tratamento quimioterápico: avaliação dos domínios espiritualidade/religiosidade(2020) Albino, Maiara AlvesIntroduction: Being ill with cancer, in addition to being a serious health problem, has a great emotional impact on the patient’s life, from diagnosis to post-treatment. In this sense, the need for resources such as spirituality and religiosity emerges. Objectives: To evaluate the influence of the spirituality/religiosity domains as a support in chemotherapy treatment in a Hospital in the south of Santa Catarina. Methods: This is a cross-sectional study. From February to April 2020, with people diagnosed with cancer undergoing chemotherapy, at the oncology unit in a Hospital in the South of Santa Catarina. Sociodemographic and clinical characterization instruments and the Spirituality Self Rating Scale (SSRS) and Duke Religion Index. Results: The sample consisted of 130 people with cancer, mostly men (n = 70), with an average age of 64.5 years, married, with incomplete elementary education, retirees, Catholics and practitioners; Patients who reported having a religion demonstrated to be twenty times more spirited, when compared to individuals who did not. There was prevalence in breast cancer, followed by the low gastrointestinal tract. Most of the sample was in stage II and IV of the disease, the most prevalent treatment was chemotherapy aimed at cure. Conclusion: Spirituality and religiosity proved to be relevant for 98,46% of patients as support in coping with cancer, helping to alleviate the repercussions caused by treatment. Thus, new research is this area is suggested, as a way of knowledge and preparation of professionals to better approach patients.
