And this picture intensifies even more when it comes to curricular components such as chemistry. This study, therefore, is necessary to analyze as a major issue of this study: If the learn teaching process associated with the context of the student is suitable and sufficient for the construction of significant knowledge in chemistry classes. Thus, in detecting causal problems we can come up with viable solutions to lessen or even eliminate the problem. This research has as methodological proposal an exploratory / descriptive research of qualitative approach. The sample population was composed of a group of students from a state public school, first, second and third year of high school, in the south of Santa Catarina. A semi-structured questionnaire was used, using Lickert's scale, and also with three questions in the open questionnaire, so that it can capture the opinion in a more descriptive way of the student. In front of the results obtained with the research, it concluded that the teaching and learning process, associated to the student's context is in process of being adapted to the construction of knowledge, but we can verify that there are flawed points for a contextualization of quality. Beeing necessary to use some teaching tools to complement and contextualize the classes. Clear examples are the practical classes that can be done in the classroom desk with everyday products and / or the presence of a person from the community so that the students understand where the chemistry is really in their day to day. With a greater commitment of the teachers in the preparation of the teaching plan, incorporating the contextualization in the classes, taking into account the daily life of the student will then make the content significant and contributory to the cognitive development and the increase of the motivation and the interest of the students.
