The aim is to explore through literature search the literary text pointing possibilities of exploration of literature in early childhood education. It fits into the problematic of the child's relationship with literary culture, particularly with literary texts through storytelling / reading and other activities, which requires the teacher to know the child and its development, and also the literature and how to use the literary text in early childhood education. The choice of the theme is justified considering that literature is an essential cultural asset for the humanizing education of children. Regarding the methodology, a bibliographic search was performed a literature search through printed and digital texts on children's literature and its role in child development. The conclusion is that activities in kindergarten with literary texts through the mediation of the teacher are essential for the full development of the child, particularly the imagination. Authors highlight some possibilities of pedagogical work with literature for children that can contribute to a humanizing education in kindergarten.
