Monografia Acesso aberto Comparação dos parâmetros fisiológicos no período transanestésico de cães submetidos à anestesia inalatória ou intravenosa total em procedimentos eletivos(2019) Carmo, Beatriz LinheiraAnesthesia is a very important part of any surgical procedure, mainly due to the advancement of veterinary medicine and increased routine procedures. The objective of this study was to determine the method of anesthesia, inhalation or intravenous maintenance, changes less the physiological parameters of dogs submitted to ovariohysterectomy procedure. The results were obtained through the analysis of eight registration forms, four of these patients undergoing inhalation anesthesia with isoflurane and the others four patients were undergoing total intravenous anesthesia with propofol and REMIFLK. The parameters compared were heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature and oximetry. The heart rate and oximetry didn’t present significant difference between the groups or between the times in relation to the group itself. Reduction of respiratory rate was observed among patients in the intravenous anesthesia group over time, without any significant difference between groups. In both groups was possible to observe a decrease of temperature in relation to the procedure time. In the total intravenous anesthesia group, of 4 patients, 1 needed assisted breathing and 1 required analgesic rescue. Of the 4 patients undergoing inhalation anesthesia, 2 required analgesic rescue, 1 presented apnea after induction and 1 needed assisted breathing throughout all the procedure and analgesic rescue. Was concluded that any of the technique keep the basal parameters, however, with the continuous infusion of propofol and REMIFLK, it was possible to observe balance and avoid some undesirable effects. As well as the need to increase analgesia in patients undergoing inhalation anesthesia.Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Dosagem dos níveis de lactato e glicose séricos em pacientes caninos classificados como urgência SOU emergência atendidos no HVU(2017) Lima, Monique RossoThe aim of the study was to evaluate serum lactate and glucose values and to compare them with the prognosis of the animals. Fifteen samples of canines were analyzed in an emergency or emergency state attended at Unisul Veterinary Hospital. Four blood samples were collected at four different times. The first was performed after stabilization the animal, the second six hours after the procedure was surgical or only therapeutic, the third twelve hours and 24 hours after the procedure performed on the animal. The animals were divided into two groups: group 1 (adults) aged up to seven years old, 33.33% (5/15) and group 2 (elderly) aged over seven years, 66.66% (10 / 15). The glucose values remained within the reference values in group 1 and group 2, except for the collection of 24 hours in group 1, where hypoglycemia was present. The value of lactate for group 1 showed hyperlactatemia only in the pre-collection, while still had the condition, but normalized in the others. In group 2, hyperlactatemia remained light (2.5 to 4.0 mmol / L) during all collections. All animals survived the first 24 hours, which is 100%, suggesting that lactate interpretation alone is not a good prognostic marker.Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Dosagem dos níveis de lactato e glicose séricos em pacientes classificados como urgência ou emergência atendidos no HVU(2017) Lima, Monique RossoThe aim of the study was to evaluate serum lactate and glucose values and to compare them with the prognosis of the animals. The measurement of lactate and serum glucose in these patients becomes extremely important, since their increased and decreased levels, respectively, may be related to a higher mortality rate due to metabolic changes. As in human medicine lactate is already used as a way of differentiating the severity of certain pathological conditions, the realization of several lactate measurements can assist the veterinarian in the screening of this patient as well as contribute to the prognosis. The present study measured the serum lactate and glucose concentrations of canine patients who arrived in a state of emergency and emergency at Unisul Veterinary Hospital, obtaining subsidies for the prognostic aid of these animals. Four collections were performed, the first one after stabilization of the patient the second six hours after this stabilization, the third twelve hours after and the fourth 24 hours after stabilization. A total of 19 canines were divided into two groups: group 1 (adults) aged up to eight years, 42.10% (8/19) and group 2 (elderly) aged over eight years, 57, 89% (11/19). The behavior of serum lactate concentrations in group 1 (adults) in relation to group 2 (elderly) showed that lactate is a good prognostic marker because in 100% of the animals there was survival within 24 hours, but its interpretation should not be done in isolation, but in conjunction with the clinical parameters (heart rate, respiratory rate, capillary fill time, rectal temperature and mucosal staining).Monografia Acesso aberto Estudo retrospectivo da classificação ASA relacionado ao índice de mortalidade de cães e gatos submetidos a procedimentos anestésicos no HVU(2019) Simas, Isadora DamianiEste estudo objetiva relatar, por meio de artigo científico, o perfil e classificação ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) dos cães e gatos submetidos a procedimentos anestésicos no Hospital Veterinário Unisul (HVU) de maio de 2016 a abril de 2018, bem como o índice de mortalidade durante o período perianestésico. Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Estudo retrospectivo das principais intercorrências associada à drogas utilizadas nos protocolos anestésicos do Hospital Veterinário Unisul no período de maio de 2017 à abril de 2018(2018) Claudino, Gustavo dos ReisIt is known that anesthetic procedures generally pose a risk to the patient, especially due to their general clinical condition and procedure to be performed, as well as of the drugs involved in the protocol triggering an intercurrence. Knowing this, the objective of this work was to analyze the drugs involved in the anesthetic protocols and to evaluate the incidence of intercurrence occurred in these anesthetic procedures. The data were evaluated from the anesthetic records of the Veterinary Hospital Unisul, referring to the anesthetic procedures that took place between May 2017 and April 2018. For this purpose, we used the excel software of the office 2016. We analyzed 262 patient records which obtained a total of 13.7% of intercurrences.Artigo Científico Acesso fechado Estudo retrospectivo de riscos anestésicos em procedimentos cirúrgicos de cães e gatos(2017) Felisbino, Aléx MunizThe present study has as purpose report the patients profile and their ASA (American Society of Anesthesiologists) classification in anesthesic procedures at Hospital Veterinário Unisul (HVU) in the period of 2016 to 2017, besides to also report the mortality ratio. Therefore, a retrospective study was executed using anesthesic files of HVU and classification was made by spice, gender, age group and the anatomic system and region submitted to surgery. It was analyzed 188 files, being 148 dogs (78,72%) and 40 cats (21,28%), which were subject to general transoperatory anesthesia. These animals were subdivide in two groups by their ASA classification, being 124/188 (65,9%) healthy animals (ASA 1 and 2), and 64/188 (34,1%) sick animals (ASA 3, 4 and 5). The total number of deaths reported during this period was 3 (1,59%), being 2 (1,35%) dogs and 1 (2,5%) cat, all them belonging the sick animals group.Monografia Acesso aberto Estudo retrospectivo do perfil e evolução clínica do paciente atendido por acupuntura veterinária em Florianópolis/SC(2019) Pires, Mariana OrofinoAcupuncture is a part of the millenary treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which aims at therapy and cure of diseases through the insertion of needles, which generate stimuli in specific points of the skin, acupoints, being in veterinary medicine so as old as in humans. This study aimed to survey the clinical cases treated by acupuncture in a private veterinary office in the city of Florianópolis, since the beginning of their care in 2016 to 2019, evaluating the effects of treatment in relation to the affected system, the profile of patients. , the clinical evolution and the need for the use of complementary medications, or the possibility of the removal of allopathy, in order to emphasize the efficacy of acupuncture in the clinical evolution of patients, reducing drugs whenever possible, favoring the healing process and analgesia. stimulated by this therapy. For this purpose, information on species, age, sex, diagnosed condition and its system in the body, need for medication, total number of acupuncture sessions and clinical evolution were analyzed in two hundred and eighty-six medical records. occurrence for each category of information through Excel 2016 spreadsheets. In this study we observed a higher prevalence of assistance to dogs (91%) compared to cats (8.7%) and monkeys (0.3%), with most elderly care (73%), mainly in the treatment of west musculoskeletal disorders (51%) and neurological disorders (36.5%), but also cutaneous (2.7%), immunological (3.8%), urinary disorders (2.2%), gastrointestinal (2.5%), endocrine (0.9%), cardiovascular (0.2%) and respiratory (0.2%), successful in acupuncture treatment where more than half (65%) of the patients treated were discharged in an average of 4.9 therapeutic sessions and 31.9% of patients receiving treatment in synergy with medication could remove allopathy, in addition to the 68.1% who were no longer on pharmacological use, benefiting only from acupuncture privileges.Monografia Acesso embargado Levantamento retrospectivo da casuística de animais silvestres e exóticos encaminhados para procedimento anestésico no Hospital Veterinário Unisul de janeiro de 2014 a outubro de 2018(2018) Birolo, Eduardo BezIn the last decades, there was a significant increase in the frequency that wild and exotic animals are attended in veterinary hospitals. The purpose of this study is determine the wild and exotic animals casuistry referred to anesthetic procedure in Unisul Veterinary Hospital. It is a retrospective survey from January 2014 to October 2018, determining the number of attended animals, the species classification, the individual provenance, the present pathology, the drugs used in the anesthetic protocol and the survival rate. Thirteen animals was totaled in this study, six birds, six mammals and one reptile. Most part of the individuals was from private provenance, being kept as captivity animals. The main pathologies presented was from musculoskeletal origin, especially in animals sent through environmental military police. The most requested drugs in the anesthetic protocol was the Isoflurane, Ketamine Hydrochloride and Midazolam Maleate. Three animals died in the postoperative period, due to the presented pathologies. It is possible to conclude that, between the wild and exotic animals, the birds and mammals has presented greater casuistic of referral for anesthetic procedure in HVU, and Isoflurane was the most used drug in the anesthetic protocols.Artigo Científico Acesso fechado Ocorrência de cães obesos atendidos no Hospital Veterinário UNISUL no periodo de abril de 2016 até abril de 2017(2017) Sena, Liriana FurtunatoObesity is characterized by a nutritional disease due to the excess of adipose tissue, in comparison with the normal performance of the body functions. Diagnostic methods should be fast, safe and economically feasible, so weight, canine body mass index (BMI) and canine body scoring (ECC) are more commonly employed. The aim of this study was to classify the body condition of the dogs treated at Unisul Veterinary Hospital (HVU), in Tubarão (Brazil), from April 2016 until April 2017; also evaluate the weight and height in order to calculate the IMCC and evaluate the ECC. A total of 61 canine animals treated in the HVU clinic sector submitted to the consultation or referred for examination were selected. Later, the mean weight was obtained, as well as the height for the calculation of the IMCC and, finally, the ECC was evaluated by palpation of the ribs, lumbar and sacral vertebrae. It was possible to observe that 54% of the population evaluated was above of the ideal weight. Females older than 8 years had greater overweight or obesity totaling 79%, and overweight was more frequent in castrated dogs (58%). Due to the increase in canine obesity, it is important to obtain a diagnosis, promoting good animal health
