This article aims to address the arbitration institute, which is an alternative means of resolving conflicts that has been growing in Brazil. It has been addressed since the emergence of this alternative means of conflicts, until the current legislation. The main features of this process were also explained. Finally, we will analyze the influence of the New Code of Civil Procedure on the arbitration procedure regulated by Law N. 9,307 of 1996.
