Artigo Científico Acesso embargado Os efeitos do método pilates e da liberação miofascial na lombalgia crônica(2018) Adelino, Vera ReginaIntroduction: Nonspecific chronic low back pain is the low back pain, with unknown cause, for a period longer than 12 weeks. Physicaltherapy is one of the treatment options bringing techniques like the Pilates method and myofascial release (MFR). Objective: Analyze the effects of the Pilates method and the MRF, separately, on chronic low back pain. Methods: experimental, quantitative study with 20 volunteers in two groups: MFR (G1) and Pilates (G2). The evaluation was done with the Visual Analog Pain Scale, third finger to the ground test and Roland Morris questionnaire. There were performed 10 sessions, twice a week, for 50 minutes. Ressults: Data analysis considered p <0.05 significant. The G1’s mean pain before treatment was 6.67 and after was 4.33 (p = 0.5000). In G2, the mean pain before treatment was 8 and after was 3 (p = 0.2500). The G1’s mean flexibility before treatment was 55 cm and after 43.67 cm (p = 0.2500) in G2, before treatment was 46.33 cm and after 35.67 cm (p = 0.2500). The mean score for the pain impact in G1 was, before treatment, 8.33 and after 5,33 (p = 0.5000). In G2, the mean score for the pain impact before treatment was 11.67 and after 6,66 (p = 0.2500). In the Kruskal Wallis test (G1 versus G2), there was no significant result before and after treatments, as the value was p> 0.9999. Conclusion: Although not statistically significant, both techniques, when analyzed individually, were beneficial in the treatment of chronic low back pain.
