Monografia Acesso aberto Efeitos da radiofrequência e da estimulação elétrica nervosa transcutânea no tratamento de dor pélvica crônica(2017) Andrade, Ohana VirginiaIntroduction: Chronic pelvic pain (CPD) is defined as pain in the lower abdomen or pelvic region, presenting pain lasting long, affecting during menacing (18 to 50 years). Physical therapy has been employed in the treatment of these women using electrotherapeutic resources such as TENS and RF. The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of RF compared to TENS applications on pain symptomatology in women with CPD. Methods and Materials: The sample consisted of 8 women aged between 18 and 50 years. The volunteers were divided into two groups, group A receiving TENS applications and group B RF, 10 sessions, twice a week. Pain was assessed through the Visual Analogue Scale (EVA) and quality of life through the Brazilian Version of the Quality of Life Questionnaire (SF-36) in the form of an interview. For statistical analysis, mean, standard deviation and t-test (p <0.05) were used. Results: There was no significant difference according to VAS, however, both groups presented pain reduction. In the SF-36 questionnaire, the domains limitations due to emotional aspects and mental health presented a significant difference in group A. Among the groups there was significant difference only in the domain limitation by emotional aspects. Regarding the scores obtained in this questionnaire, there was improvement in all domains after treatment. Final consideration: Even without significant results, TENS and RF reduced pain after treatment and consequently improved quality of life scores.
