Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Padrão estético inglês no auge da era vitoriana e sua presença nas revistas cariocas do século XIX(2020) Floriano, Letícia ValérioThe aesthetic pattern of the victorian era was based on bodies that had as reference the white population and included slimness and pallor with the use of several elements to enhance the beauty, among them hats, wide skirts and corsets. England, emerging in its second industrial revolution and one of the greatest international imperialist powers, influenced many countries with its aesthetics both for its news network and for its aesthetic dominance and linked to the sale of goods. Brazil in the XIX century had multiple european influences, perceived in the clothes and accessories used by the brazilian women of that time. The brazilian's magazines of the period are considered one of the main methods of dissemination of information and fashion. And it is from the magazines that the British influence is shown. Through documentary research in magazines from Rio de Janeiro in the mid-nineteenth century, it was sought to verify whether and how the victorian aesthetic was present in them. The results of the analysis show a relative british aesthetic influence, in some aspects of body and clothing, including the Bonett hat and the balloon skirt, despite the polemics surrounding the use of both.
