Influenced by anthropocentrism and speciesism, animals were considered inferior beings, excluded from law. With the discovery of sentience, ability to feel, and consequently to suffer, one's view of animals changed. Nowadays, domestic animals have the status of movable property, with constitutional protection against abuse, however the legislation is not in accordance with the concept that society gave to pets. Introduced into the multispecies family, these “kids” are sometimes a matter of dispute when the relationship is over, and these issues have already ended up in the judiciary, which without the legislation to support it, sought by family law, by analogy, the solution for the “guard”, “visitation” and “alimony” of these pets. Keywords: Pets. Legal nature. Multispecies family.
