Monografia Acesso embargado Efeitos do dry needling em pacientes com fibromialgia: uma revisão de literatura(2020) Melo, Lohane Teixeira deIntroduction: Fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) can be defined as a generalized, non-inflammatory, idiopathic chronic pain syndrome, which manifests itself in the musculoskeletal system and has an unknown etiology, tender points on palpation at predetermined locations. The fibromyalgia patient can also mention, in addition to the diffuse in joints, bones, muscles and tendencies, issues related to the emotional condition such as mood and anxiety disorders. The Dry Needling (DN) technique consists of inserting needles into trigger points (TP) without the ingestion of any type of substance, one of which has the main objective of promoting muscle relaxation, easing pain caused by tension points. Objectives: Synthesize through a search in research databases, articles that addressed the use of the DN technique in patients with FMS and its effects published since 2014. Methods: For this study used the integrative literature review method, including articles that presented clinical trials or case reports, without language, gender or age restrictions, found in the Google Scholar, Pubmed, LILACS, Science Direct and PEDro databases. Such information guided the construction of the following research question: “does the DN technique have beneficial effects in patients with FMS?”, And through this review, we sought to answer it. Results: A total of 6 articles were captured at the end of the study that fit the predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria and results that showed a positive outcome in relation to a clinical picture of the patients participating in the separate studies. Conclusion: We can conclude that the DN technique is indeed effective for short-term treatment for patients with FMS, with the main report of improvement after the pain reduction intervention.
