Monografia Acesso aberto Aplicação de agrotóxicos no agronegócio: consequências para a saúde dos trabalhadores(2020) Pupim, Eduardo StradiottoAgriculture-related activities predate the existence of the country itself. Over time, such activities were developed, modernized, and new production methods were implemented, giving rise to agribusiness, a model that uses mechanization and chemicals - pesticides - to achieve high production and productivity rates. Currently, agribusiness is one of the most important activities in Brazil, responsible for a large part of its economy. The growth of agribusiness, however, is responsible for the increased use of pesticides, making the country today one of the largest consumers of these substances. The main victims of this unrestrained use are workers in the sector, who, in addition to being directly and frequently exposed to the most varied types of pesticides, face numerous other social and economic barriers. For this reason, this study aimed to analyze and describe who are agribusiness workers, which pesticides are used, which levels of toxicity and which standards are applicable, to identify the consequences of using these substances for these workers and propose possible measures to minimize these consequences. For the development of the research, which, in terms of nature, was basic, in terms of the problem, qualitative and, in terms of objectives, descriptive, the case study modality was used, with a deductive approach method, since from an analysis In general, the desired results were achieved: the identification of the consequences of the use of pesticides for the health of agribusiness workers and the making of recommendations to try to minimize the problem. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the use of pesticides poses numerous risks to the health of agribusiness workers, many of them very serious. In addition, there are other factors that, combined with the toxicity of these substances, aggravate the situation, such as the low level of education of workers, the non-use or use of inappropriate PPE, the difficulty of accessing the health system, among others. The current situation, however, can be modified with the adoption of some measures, such as the reduction / substitution of the use of pesticides and the education of workers in the sector, which depends on the union of the will of workers, of the great producers of agribusiness and of the Public Power.
