Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Segunda Guerra Púnica e as campanhas de Aníbal a intriga e a narrativa histórica nos relatos de Políbio(2017) Costa, Bruce MarlonIn 219 B.C., Hannibal Barca of Carthage led an attack on Saguntum, an independent city allied with Rome, which sparked the outbreak of the Second Punic War. He then mar-ched with his army across the Pyrenees and Alps into central Italy in what would be remembe-red as one of the most famous campaigns in history. Over the campaigns of Second Punic War – called by Polybius “Hannibal’s War” – Hannibal Barca used widely the territory as a crucial element of victory in his battles. Some representations about Hannibal and his army descend from Polybius writes, great admirer of roman imperialism. The greek máster Polybius of Megalopolis exalts the civilization incarnate by Rome in front of barbarian people. The defeat of Cartage during Punic War in their view, is result of long clash between civilization and barbarian. If we look Hannibal’s campaign must bear in mind that memory produced by Polybius accompany a political project, that unconsciosly, aim praise the roman perspective of Society. Events, characters and locals were articulated to create a roman collectivity. Althought the reports of Polybius have his limitations, it´s possible reflect on this car-taginian military perspective through Hannibal’s actions on Punic War. In this way we seek to understand what is the role of Hannibal Barca in Second Punic War from the perspective of Polybius, to that end we will use as source a book written by Polybius of Megalopolis entitled Histories
