The present work deals with international economic changes and movements to bypass the current downturn presented by capitalism. Regionalization is one of the solutions found to create a bargaining power in the global market. This new international economic architecture turns out to also change the regional architecture, since with the world in crisis alternatives for growth lie in the trade with the region. The exchange of information and experiences among the South American countries has increased considerably in recent times due to these changes generated by the decline of the current financial system. The alternatives found regionally in South America are elaborated upon and discussed with emphasis on proposals already checked
