Since transnational companies can be agents of regional integration processes and has influence in decision making, this monograph talks about the performance of the Brazilian state company Petrobras in the context of South American integration. Facing the need to deepen institutional structures existing and developing strategies together with the neighboring nations for economic growth, political and social development of the continent, one wonders how Petrobras has influenced the recent process of integration in South America In this sense, there is the role of state in Brazil's foreign policy strategy for energy integration in South America describing, in a first moment, the integrationist trend in the region. Then it characterizes the Brazilian foreign policy and its actions to energy issues and, finally, it identifies the relationship of the Company's operations through investment and technological innovation as a tactic to exercise leadership in the Brazilian South American continent
