As atuais
Oncofertility is a field of studies that seeks to interpose knowledge and improvement of strategies for preserving the reproductive function in cancer patients. In recent years, technological advances in the field of oncology have provided patients with treatments that revolutionized the hope of having a better quality of life. However, this evolution has not always avoided the damage to reproductive health caused by surgeries, chemotherapies or radiotherapy, which are common to these patients. Infertility can cause devastating psychological effects, both in the individual and in the marital sphere. Current techniques, such as freezing semen and embryos, freezing eggs, ovary fragments, testicle fragments, associated with assisted fertilization techniques, expand the perspective so that the desire to have children after the end of treatments does not become a frustration and be a hope for the patients. Thus, this literature review aims to describe the main options for preserving fertility in cancer treatment.
