As
Despite being irrevocable, the return of children and adolescents remains a reality in the context of adoption. This situation can generate psychological consequences for those involved, such as children/adolescents, families and professionals, even if it happens following the principles of the best interests of the child and adolescent. The main objective of this research was to understand which factors influence the return of children and adolescents in the context of adoption, based on the understanding of psychologists who work in the Childhood and Youth Courts, in Santa Catarina. For this, semi-structured interviews were carried out with 5 professionals, using an online platform. The interviews had their content analyzed using the Content Analysis technique. In an attempt to understand the phenomenon of devolution, the main aspects discussed were: the judicial system and the procedures of the adoption process; the relevance of preparing applicants for adoption and the expectations surrounding the adoption of children and adolescents Thus, from the understanding of psychologists, factors that are usually associated with conflicts that can influence the return of children and adolescents were identified, but despite this, there are particularities in each situation due to the differences that constitute the stories of children and families.
