Glaucoma is a chronic degenerative pathology of the optic nerve that causes irreversible impairment of vision. One of the particularities of ophthalmic practice are the alternative routes of drug administration, including the periocular route of administration, whether subconjunctival, sub-Tenonian or retrobulbar. The patient with glaucoma has several factors that interfere with their daily routine. Thus, we sought to carry out a descriptive study on conventional systems with regard to the ocular route, categorizing them according to citations published in the specialized national literature. The methodology used in this study was a bibliographical research. The clinical suspicion of congenital glaucoma should be confirmed by evaluating the refractive status, changes present in the cornea and procedures such as tonometry, ophthalmoscopy and gonioscopy.
