The role of psychology professionals in risk and disaster management is a recurring discussion among the class itself, something that has taken even more strength in the face of the COVID 19 pandemic. The mitigation of psychological damage to victims in all its phases, in addition to assisting in decision-making and articulation between the various network devices, contributes to the creation of public policies, something of paramount importance for the psychologist's performance in such a context. The objective of this exploratory bibliographic review was to gather perspectives from several authors on the subject, taking into account the different aspects of the problem to explain the need and the gains of the performance of such a professional, not only, but also in the pre and post-disaster. The intervention most widely proposed in this article is the role of psychology professionals in the pre-disaster, aiming to manage and prepare the community, taking into account the assumption that an informed and prepared population has the necessary knowledge during and after the disaster.
