This monography will analyze the exploitation and theft of artifacts from countries that developed in the midst of colonization by European countries. The main objective of this analysis is to address questions about illegal appropriation of objects using the case of robberies that took place in Egypt by France and the historical and cultural impact of these actions. From this assumption, observe how the negotiations for the pieces return are conducted and the motivations for which the restitution of these objects are an obstacle for the northern countries that tend to have benefits during these transactions. Furthermore, based on qualitative research, we seek to understand the eagerness of European countries to maintain large collections in their museums while masking the true origin of their pieces. Subsequently, departing from colonial and decolonial theories, to understand the historical construction of the international system and of “superior” and “inferior” identities in a global power structure.
