consequências a curto, médio e longo prazo.
The most recent annual Global Survey on aesthetic/cosmetic procedures (2020), by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), points out that Brazil is the second country to perform aesthetic procedures worldwide. In view of this, it is necessary to understand which factors lead people to carry out such interventions beyond physical pressures, through a sociocultural analysis of gender and class, considering the advance of globalization, the influences of communication vehicles and the internet, and how the beauty industry profits and acts on our bodies without measuring the consequences in the short, medium and long term. In the end, it is concluded that the dictatorship of aesthetics has been present for thousands of years, and increasingly uses us as instruments of profit and maintenance of patriarchal power.
