Introduction: Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability in childhood, occurring in 1 to 3 per 1000 live births unilateral CP (uCP) accounts for 38% of cases. These children have motor and sensory impairments predominantly on one side of the body, which are usually most pronounced in the upper limb (MS). Among the treatments to improve upper limb function is constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT) is a short-term intensive treatment to promote arm and hand functional abilities in people with hemiparesis. Objective: To verify in the literature the benefits and evidence of using CIMT in the rehabilitation of children with CP. Methods: the search for articles occurred in the electronic databases Medline and Pubmed, in the period from 2012 to the present, with the descriptors "constraint-induced movement therapy" and "cerebral palsy" combined with each other, and their respective English correspondents. Results: a total of 238 possible and relevant articles were found, in were adopted as inclusion criteria studies that addressed the relationship of CIMT with cerebral palsy and the impacts of the technique, published between the years 2012 to 2021, without language restrictions, complete and available in the databases from original research. Nine articles were selected for inclusion in the literature review. Conclusion: The research resulted in an expressive number of publications addressing the use of CIMT in the rehabilitation of children with CP, which showed significant improvement in the motor skills of the upper limbs, improving self-care and activities of daily living of these children.
