Psychosis constitutes a psychic structure where delusional and hallucinatory constructions arise in a fanciful attempt to protect the psychotic from anguish. With this, it is understood that the symptomatology present in psychosis shows an attempt to reconstruct the fractured Self. Social representations, formed by cultural concepts, stigmatize and exclude the psychotic subject based on the demands that the so-called “normal” people make regarding what the other should be. As a result, these individuals are unfairly, associated with violence and lack of control. The present study is based on the psychoanalytic approach, being the research of an exploratory theoretical nature, carried out from bibliographic research. It was intended, then, to understand the effects of the stigmatization of the psychotic subject and to describe how much the individual suffers within the exclusion, concluding on the need to review the ways in which psychotics are treated in society from stigmas that promote exclusion and suffering.
