Resumo
Introdução: Classificado como epidemia o Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 atinge aproximadamente 90% de todos os casos de diabetes, além de ser o de maior prevalência em idosos. Caracterizado por um quadro de hiperglicemia constante na corrente sanguínea em resultado da deficiência e/ou incapacidade da insulina realizar sua função fisiológica. Objetivo: Analisar a influência do Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 em idosos e associa-lo com a alimentação. Método: Pertence a um estudo de revisão de literatura, onde ocorreu uma busca de estudos a respeito de DM em idosos e seus aspectos nutricionais. Onde os elementos de referências foram Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Google Acadêmico, PubMed e instituições de relevância na área como Sociedade Brasileira de Diabetes, Federação Internacional de Diabetes e Organização Mundial da Saúde (OMS). Conclusão: Diante de tudo que foi visto, fica a importância de uma alimentação equilibrada, com porcentagem de macro e micronutrientes adequados, levando em consideração suas carências para assim supri-las, lembrando que cada indivíduo tem a sua necessidade, sendo necessário um olhar individualizado, para ter um plano alimentar equilibrado.

Characterized by constant hyperglycemia in the bloodstream as a result of insulin deficiency and/or inability to perform its physiological function. Objective: To analyze the influence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in the elderly and associate it with food. Method: It belongs to a literature review study, where there was a search for studies about DM in the elderly and their nutritional aspects. Where the reference elements were Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Google Scholar, PubMed and relevant institutions in the area such as the Brazilian Society of Diabetes, the International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization (WHO). Conclusion: In view of all that has been seen, there is the importance of a balanced diet, with an adequate percentage of macro and micronutrients, taking into account their needs in order to supply them, remembering that each individual has their needs, requiring an individualized look, to Have a balanced eating plan.
