This work aims to analyze the viability of the hydrogen engine as a successor to current engines for a sustainable future, from its development to the most advanced phases of the project, such as performance tests on experimental aircraft. We will address the birth and development of the “Zero Emission” project by AIRBUS and CFM, how two companies are committed to making a turbofan aircraft, turbo propeller and a new type of aircraft as an option for a sustainable future, where international organizations have projected a net-zero future by 2050. In contrast, other projects have already taken to the skies such as the ATR 72 and the Dornier 228 from Universal Hydrogen, and approximately 35 years ago a Soviet Tupolev has flew using hydrogen technology.
