The present study is an integrative literature review on the influence of social networks on body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) caused in women. With the specific objectives of identifying the main aggravating factors for the development of BDD, understanding the magnitude of the influence of social media on society, with a focus on women, and understanding what and how the effects that promoting the ideal image and perfect body cause in women who use digital platforms. To do this, key words were searched in the databases: Google Scholar, Pubmed, Scielo, Periódicos Capes and Pepsic in the period from 2019 to 2023, resulting in 225 articles only in Google Scholar and the other sources did not present results. After analysis, articles that were in line with the theme were selected and articles that did not have the key words or that deviated from the proposal were excluded. After the study, it was possible to notice that although the conception of beauty is subjective, it has never ceased to be linked to the physical, especially to women, due to the representation of submission, inferiority and sexualization that they have in society. Given this, body image can be significantly affected by too much exposure to social networks, as they reinforce a standard of beauty that is often unattainable, aggravating eating disorders, female competitiveness and, as a focus of the work, Body Dysmorphic Disorder. Keywords: Social networks, body image, women, body dysmorphia, influence and psychology.
