The objective of the present research was to evaluate the quality index of infant feeding menus offered to preschoolers from Palhoça-SC. Regular menus from February to June 2019 of the Early Childhood Education Centers were evaluated using the Quality Index method of the Food and Nutrition Security Coordination (IQ COSAN). It was observed that the menus showed adequate food diversity, with distribution of all food groups recommended by the method. By the five months evaluated, 40% were classified as “adequate” and 60% as “needing improvement”, with a score very close to the “adequate” limit. It is suggested to reduce the supply of chocolate, a restricted food that reduced the classification score by the method, and to include foods from the regional sociobiodiversity in order to increase the score.
