Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Atividade física no combate a incidência de depressão e ansiedade na pandemia do Covid-19: uma revisão de literatura(2020) Aurélio, Suelen da SilvaThe current pandemic has had a negative impact on the population's behavior and mental health. Measures such as isolation and social detachment are increasing cases of depression and anxiety. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to search the literature for studies on the practice of physical activity and its benefits for reducing the incidence of depression and anxiety in the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: Literature review conducted from September to October 2020. The descriptors in portuguese and english were used: “COVID-19 pandemic /COVID-19 pandemic”, “anxiety / anxiety”, “depression / depression”, “mental health” / mental health ", "physical activity / physical activity "on Google Scholar, PubMed, Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) platforms and also on access to websites of physical and mental health organizations. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 34 articles (15 national and 19 international) were selected and 11 websites related to the study theme were accessed. RESULTS: The regular practice of physical activity has numerous benefits, psychological, physical and social, being considered a non-pharmacological therapeutic tool in the treatment of anxiety and depression. Being physically active is an indispensable habit for the population to remain healthy during the pandemic period. CONCLUSION: Through the findings in this study, it can be observed that the practice of physical activity during the COVID-19 pandemic proved to be an accessible and effective method in reducing the incidence of cases of depression and anxiety. The study suggests new exercise prescription strategies for specific audiences in this period.
