Artigo Científico Acesso aberto Comparação da Eficácia do Hipoclorito de Sódio e Clorexidina como soluções irrigadoras de canais radiculares(2020) Flora Grandemagne, Any LuizeThe main objectives of endodontic treatment are disinfection, modeling and filling of the root canal. For these objectives to be achieved, a combination of mechanical instrumentation, chemical irrigation and intracanal medication is required, in addition to an appropriate hermetic seal. Currently, there are several auxiliary chemical substances on the market. The choice of the technique and the substance to be used is extremely important for successful treatment, seeking to guarantee the effect of maximum tissue dissolution and the elimination of microorganisms, in order to avoid further contamination of the canal. The aim of this work was through a literature review to compare the antimicrobial efficacy of irrigating solutions Sodium Hypochlorite and Chlorhexidine.Works were selected in the following virtual databases: PubMed, SciELO and MedLine. Research on gray literature was also carried out on Google Scholar. It can be concluded that the solutions present in this study have limitations and that they have similar microbial activity. However, Sodium Hypochlorite is the choice of choice because it has the ability to dissolve organic matter, while Chlorhexidine has a substantive action (the ability to act over a long term). Keywords: Chlorhexidine. Root canal irrigants. Sodium hypochlorite.
