Estudo de Caso Acesso aberto Papel da escola e da família na promoção de saúde bucal infantil em Tubarão- SC(2018) Armendaris, Taynara DonárioThe objective of the present study was to identify methods of prevention and promotion of oral health adopted in children 0 to 6 years of age where 23 teachers and 74 family members were interviewed in a public day care center and 18 teachers and 83 family members in two private schools located in the city of Tubarão-SC. It was noted that most teachers had already received information regarding the oral health care of children. Only 26.09% of public school teachers and 18.13% in private schools referred the dentist as the main source of information. Most of the teachers interviewed pointed out that their involvement in the caries prevention process is necessary, although almost half of the day care teachers reported including oral health issues in their classes, 90.64% in the private ones included these subjects in their classes . Most of the parents of children attending private schools reported having a higher frequency pattern and control of oral hygiene of their children until they had a lesser experience with dental caries (10.81% public before 7, 53% private). It was observed that there is a good level of knowledge and practices to ensure that the oral condition of children is good, together with parents' knowledge about how to avoid caries, few parents and / or caregivers (only 2% in the public sector and 17% in the private partnerships) believe that caries is transmitted from parents to children. There was less concern about the frequency of dental brushing of children by both teachers and parents of the public day care center. It is necessary to increase the attention of the dental surgeon to educational activities aimed at the training of parents and caregivers, as well as teachers so that they act even more effectively in the maintenance of oral child health.
